Now in its 18th season, the Kennett Symphony Children s Chorus is a community organization for boys and girls ages seven through eighteen. KSCC is an educational outreach of the Kennett Symphony of Chester County and gives qualified singers an opportunity to perform high-caliber, age-appropriate repertoire that is culturally and musically diverse while nurturing vocal and musical development within a group setting. Singers are auditioned and placed by age and/or experience in one of three groups: Ensemble, Chorus, or Youth Chorale. Numbering eighty plus singers, the choristers represent public, private, parochial and home schools in the Chester County and the Northern Delaware Region.
The Kennett Symphony Children’s Chorus has three chorus levels:
* Ensemble (Level I): Beginning choristers as young as seven years of age may audition for participation.
* Chorus (Level II): Choristers ten years of age or older who have had experience in the Ensemble in previous years. New choristers with outstanding prior choral experience may be invited at the Director’s discretion.
* Youth Chorale (Level III): Choristers fourteen years or older (or by special invitation of the Director for 8th grade singers) who exhibit more comprehensive musical skills and maturity. These singers have the option of also participating in Chorus (Level II ) and must be available for more frequent performances.
